Most learn to talk during the first 2 years, here you have to learn in the first 2 minutes..

MUD2 is a game where interaction is paramount and being able to communicate to fellow players something of importance. Communication is fairly easy to get the hang of, and here we will cover all the ways in which you can talk to other players.

SAY

Can also use " or ' in front of message to achieve same effect. Using a SAY command will send the message you wish to speak to everyone in the same room as you.

Variations: Whisper, Murmur etc.

SHOUT

Can also use SH in front of message to achieve same effect. Using the SHOUT command will send your message to everyone in the land who is capable of hearing.

Variations: Yell, Scream etc.

TELL

Sending a direct message to another player is achieved by typing their name then your message.
For example:

Gloomy How are you today?
*You tell your listeners "How are you Today?".

Variations: None.

Response: In response to a tell, instead of having to type the other player's name you can use REPLY or RE which will send your message directly to the last person who communicated to you.

WISH

This is a method only to be used when you have a problem that cannot be solved in any other way than talking to a Wiz. WISH sends a message to all the Wizs around at that time. A side effect of Wish is that you will go to sleep when you wish (so best not to use when fighting!).

Variations: None.
Added Notes: Try not to abuse, if you bombard the Wizs with pointless wishes they will remove your ability to wish - and you may find it a case of the boy who cried wolf, that when you REALLY need to contact them, they won't be willing to listen.

HOUSE COMMUNICATION

House talk is very similar to a TELL except it is sent to everyone in the house. Instead of a player's name you use the name of the house. For example:

ERM Morning all!
*You tell your listeners "Morning all".

Added Notes: Obviously, you can only use house tells when a member of a house. To see what houses are available to join type HOUSES.

It is probably best when you start to try and strike up a conversation with another player, most are more than willing to talk to a new player and could provide some helpful advice about the game. To see whom else is online type WHO or QW which will show the player list.
